acne treatment

Acne was thought to be an infectious skin disease in the past. But recent breakthroughs in the treatment prove it is a type of skin inflammation caused by a type of bacteria. Health specialists in London thus consider acne rather as a chronic inflammatory skin condition.

Factors for acne breakout

Apart from bacteria, certain other factors also play their part in triggering acne condition. These include ones:
  • Gene or family history
  • Level of hormones in the body
  • Micro-inflammation and
  • Problems related to the follicle

(The problems related to the skin follicle include conditions like clogged pore preventing free flowing of sebume, comedone formation or formation of blackheads, whiteheads or micro comedones. This condition is also called hyperkeratinization.)

When acne occurs due to hormonal imbalance, usually the male hormones are found to be responsible. These male hormones are also present in females, testosterone for example. Although these hormones are present in very less quantity in females than in males.

Acne breakouts and your menstruation periods

On the other hand, many female acne patients experience a flare up right before or during their menstruation. This occurs because of a drastic change in the ratios of sex hormones in their body during those days of the month. During ovulation, it is very natural for a woman to produce excess sebum in the skin. As a result, the skin gets oilier. This sebum gets trapped in the skin pores if and when the pores are already blocked by dead skin materials or keratin.

To make things even more complicated, these yet non-inflamed acne lesions or comedones are attacked by bacteria. As a result of this bacterial intervention, pimples or spots show up on the skin surface. These are medically called inflamed acne lesions and they invariably show up just before or during your periods. When your body menstruate, testosterone level is high. This factor also contributes to the problem.

Lifestyle factors and acne

A number of lifestyle factors further deepen the problem of acne breakout. These include the following:
  • A sugar-rich diet
  • Excessive consumption of processed carbohydrate or foods rich in starch
  • Smoking
  • Stress
  • Wrong skincare and
  • Insufficient sleep

Some patients are known to suffer more from the problem on having dairy products.

Teenage acne and adult acne are distinctly different. In adult acne, the skin is less oily and with lesser comedones. But on the other hand, there’re more inflammatory lesions when compared to teenage acne. Adult acne patients often complain about dry and sensitive skin. The factors make the treatment more challenging than treating teenagers.

To counter the problem of dry skin, adults suffering from the problem apply too much oil and moisturising lotions. This worsens their cases triggering more inflammatory lesions. However, specialists providing acne treatment in London have good news. These days, a range of anti-inflammatory creams has come up into the market. These medicated creams are available on prescription and they work wonders in curing your acne problem.

According to dermatologists, it is a good idea for acne patients to use preventive creams. This will prevent formation of new spots on your skin. Adult patients suffering from this skin problem must remain conscious about their skincare. Excessive skincare is likely to contribute further to the problem. Particularly, using anti-ageing creams should be done with great precaution. Constituents of such skincare products often prove harmful to make acne more severe.

Common signs of ageing are usually found around the eyes and in the skin of your neck. Thanks to the latest advancement for a revolutionary remedy to solve your problem and make you look young, like before. Let’s take a look at HIFU, also called Ulthera treatment.

How it works

HIFU is said to be a non-invasive and suitable treatment for the ones who do not want to undergo any surgery. It works well for individuals who have already undergone invasive cosmetic surgery and want to rejuvenate its effects after a certain time. The method involves using ultrasound to begin with collagen production – the structural protein inside the skin that helps in rejuvenating, healing and adding elasticity. Thus, HIFU helps in firming up problem areas that already show signs of sagging and ageing.

What it involves

HIFU requires a single visit to the specialist that usually lasts within two hours. No fillers or toxins are used, however the depositing of ultrasound energy will prompt the body to resume collagen production naturally and energise the amount in existence. It is almost painless and you will not require any time from your work. The only side effect is slight flushing of the skin and swelling occasionally which is quite natural and should reduce within one or two hours.

How soon you can see the results

Your skin may appear fresher immediately after the treatment, but the exciting results can be seen when the body starts work after the formation of new collagen. You will appear completely rejuvenated in two to three months and the effects usually last for a year. You may extend them by calling in for some occasional top ups.

How safe the treatment is

Ultrasound is considered to be a safe and an effective tool with its practical usage growing continuously. Ultrasound can be used for pregnancy scans too and its safety along with HIFU treatment is unquestionable.

If you want to know more about the HIFU treatment and discuss whether it is right for you, talk to our skin specialists. Dermal Fillers

Modern skincare treatments can do wonders to camouflage your ageing. Dermal fillers is a special and popular skincare treatment that hides the signs of ageing on your face. The various wonders that it provides include:
  • Adding volume and smoothing out the creases from your skin surface that run from the nose to the tip of the mouth
  • Smoothing out the vertical lines around the lip edges and plumping of the thin lips
  • Cheek augmenting to restore their shape and make you look younger
  • Filling out hollows under the eyes
  • Smoothing out acne and chicken pox scares
  • Increasing volume to fill out the areas in the lower cheek or temple area

Dermal fillers can either be sourced from the nature or synthetically prepared. These are directly injected into your skin to plump out the targeted areas so that the folds, depressions or wrinkles are gone. The results of filler injections last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years, depending upon a particular product type. There is semi permanent or semi-permanent fillers that last as long as 5 years or even more.

Fillers – whether it is dermal or lip fillers are very different from Botox treatment.  Though both the procedures involve injection, Botox is applied in the forehead region and around the eyes. It is meant to stop the movement of muscles around these regions that cause wrinkles. Botox, unlike the fillers treatment, has nothing to do with the plumping and smoothing effect.

However, the combined treatment of Botox and fillers provide amazing results, making you appear much younger your age.

Types of dermal fillers: As already mentioned before, there’re two types of dermal fillers available.
  • Natural and
  • Synthetic fillers

Hyaluronic acid is the most popular naturally derived fillers and is widely used in skincare industry. It offers immediate results, which can easily last any time for 3 months to two years. The fillers finally break down and then their results are lost. Hyaluronic acid is safe but on some rare occasions it can trigger an allergic reaction.  Once the fillers start breaking down, you need to push in more filler to maintain the effect. Usually, people undergoing fillers treatment need to undergo a minimum of one follow-up injection within a year.

Fillers treatment also contributes to lip enhancement helping you get plumper, fuller and more younger-looking lips like that in the past. For more information on this latest range of skincare treatments, feel free to contact Clinica Fiore. It is a reputed skincare center in London, located in Covent Garden.

Daily Morning Skin Care Routine

The idea of starting the day with a therapeutic regimen is steadily gaining foothold. An increasing number of women, and also men, in London have taken up this practice. It not only brightens and freshness the skin but also makes one feel great throughout the day.

Experts from a renowned skin care clinic in London share some easy and useful tips for early morning skincare.
  • Start with cleansing oil: Wipe off the overnight dirt build-up on your skin with cleansing oil. Consider this like rubbing of the notes on the board from a previous class. Cleansing oil not only removes the dirt build-up but also awakes your facial skin. There’re many such oils available in the market. It’s better to go for anything light that suits all skin types. Take a few drops of the oil in your palms and rub it well for a few seconds and then rub the palms on the entire face in a circular motion. Apply gentle pressure while doing this and continue it for a few minutes till most of the oil is soaked by the inner layers of the skin. Finally, rinse the face with warm water. This provides the necessary hydration to the facial skin for the rest of the day.
  • Apply a water-based cleaner in the next step: In the next step, apply a non-oily, non-sticky face cleanser to clear off any remaining dirt. It’s better to choose a cleanser having low pH. This ensures least possible irritation to your skin. Apply very gentle pressure while massaging the face with the cleanser. Use lukewarm water to wash it off.
  • Apply a toner: Toning the facial skin is a necessity to keep it soft and glowing. It erases the pores and balances the pH level of the skin. As a result the facial skin doesn’t secrete too much oil. Take substantial amount of the substance and dab it evenly on the face. Allow the facial skin to absorb all of it.
  • You also need to use serums: In addition to the steps discussed above, your face needs serum to stay and look healthy and soft. Serums are thick and concentrated solutions that cure specific skin problems. Choose a serum on basis of the problem you have. Take a few blobs of it in the palms and rub the palms together for few seconds. Start applying the serum from your nose and gradually rub the palms in the outward direction, toward the cheeks and the ears. Wait for 2/3 minutes till your skin has absorbed it completely.
  • Your skin on the face also needs enough moisturiser: You also need to moisturise your skin well. Depending on your skin type, either chooses a water-based gel or a creamy, moisturising lotion to keep your face soft and hydrated. Gently massage the moisturiser on your neck and the face till it gets totally absorbed.
  • Your skin needs sunscreen protection: The UV rays from the sun damages your skin like nothing else. To save yourself and your skin from this harmful effect, use a sunscreen lotion with SPF. This will minimise your wrinkles, creases and fine lines. Take a little of it and lightly massage in on your face, neck and the forearms for a few minutes every time before you go out in the sun.
  • Use an eye cream too: The skin under the eyes is most sensitive and so, the area needs extra care. Eye creams are meant to nourish and nurture this sensitive region of your face. Moreover, this range of creams also takes care of dark circles.

Follow these tips to ensure the right treatment for your damaged skin. It’s also important to eat a healthy and balanced diet to keep the skin properly nourished. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. It helps detoxifying the skin from inside. Include fresh, green vegetables and fruits in your daily diet to maximise the result of your effort.
